Taking an office building in Hangzhou as an example, this paper proposes two options of outdoor air cooling and cooling tower cooling in the inner area of the building in the transitional season and winter. The technical points of the two options are analysed and comprehensively compared. For the option of outdoor air cooling, the correlation among indoor temperature, outdoor air temperature, and outdoor air ratio and the influence of cooling hours are analysed. For the option of cooling tower cooling, the maximum water supply temperature of the fan-coil unit corresponding to different indoor temperatures and temperature difference between supply and return water is analysed, the effects of cooling tower thermal performance curve, cooling tower flow ratio, and supply and return water temperature difference on cooling tower water temperature are studied, and the water temperature during operation, switching temperature, cooling time, water pump configuration and cooling system operation strategy under different working conditions of cooling tower cooling are discussed. The energy saving and economy of the outdoor air cooling system and the cooling tower cooling system are calculated, respectively.
